About the Artist!

Amanda Proctor has been working with clay since her high school ceramics class in 2006. She quickly fell in love with the tactile nature of the medium and learned the basics from her teacher Cathy Amos. After graduating in 2009, Amanda continued to study fine arts at the University of Georgia where she received a BFA with a ceramics emphasis in 2013. Studying under artists Ted Saupe and Sunkoo Yuh allowed Amanda to learn how versatile clay can be as an artform. She was able to make traditional, functional pottery forms while also using clay to build large, organic sculptures.

Amanda began teaching handbuilding and wheel-throwing pottery classes at Good Dirt Clay Studio in Athens, GA and at Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation in Watkinsville, GA in 2014. She worked for Rob Sutherland at Good Dirt as the studio manager for many years until committing full-time to her pottery sales. Amanda now resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she continues to sell her pottery at artists markets, pottery sales and through her online shop.  You can shop AProctor Ceramics at “amandaproctor.com/shop” or view her gallery of work at "amandaproctor.com/gallery".
